The Kyoto Shotokan Karate Club is based in Shirehampton - on the west side of Bristol, close to Avonmouth, Sea Mills and Lawrence Weston.
We are affiliated to Shotokan Karate International (SKI) of Great Britain, under Hanshi Shiro Asano (9th Dan European Chief Instructor SKIEF). SKI is headed by the world renowned Kancho Hirokazu Kanazawa (10th Dan).
We train twice weekly on Monday and Thursday evenings, with sessions for both beginners and experienced students - click here for our Training Schedule.
We have regular courses with senior SKI-GB instructors - Sensei Paul Mead (7th Dan) and Sensei Dave Kershaw (6th Dan). All our gradings are conducted by Hanshi Shiro Asano (9th Dan SKIEF).

Sensei Paul Mead (7th Dan) will be teaching at the club on Saturday 11th September 2010.
The course will be held in the hall at St. Bernards Primary School in Shirehampton, consisting of two 1 hour session.
Training times: 2:00pm - 3:00pm 3:30pm - 4:30pm

Sensei Mead is a senior instructor in the SKI and has visited our club for the past few years, providing some high quality instruction for beginner as well as senior club members.

Congratulations to club member Jess (15), who passed her Shodan (1st Dan) black-belt grading on Friday 6th August 2010.
Jess passed her grading after completing the three day SKI Summer school in Nottingham.
The next Kyu grading will be on Sunday 5th September 2010 at the Rushcliffe Arena, Nottingham
